Prof Patrick Demana is currently Dean of School of Pharmacy at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University. Prior to this, he was a Full Professor and Head of Department of Pharmacy at University of Limpopo (Turfloop). Prof Demana has worked as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Pharmacy at Tshwane University of Technology, and also as a Lecturer at University of Witwatersrand. Apart from academia, he has industrial pharmaceutical experience as he has worked in a number of companies including Aspen, Sanofi-Aventis, MSD, Be-tabs, and Alliance Pharmaceuticals. He has published widely in the field of pharmaceutics specialising in novel drug delivery systems in reputable international peer-reviewed journals. He previously received an NRF rating as an acknowledged researcher (Y2 research category). He was recently appointed by the Minster of Health to the Board of SAHPRA. Prof Demana holds BSc (Hons) (Pharmacy) degree from Liverpool John Moores University (UK), MSc from Rhodes University (RSA), and PhD from University of Otago (NZ). He also did his postdoctoral fellowship at Emory University (USA).
